AMSTERDAM: THE 24‑HOUR MAYBE

There are easier ways to celebrate turning 60, but none of them involve boarding a plane you’ll regret halfway through the boarding process. So here we are: one Ballyfermot native, one American import, both now legally old enough to make terrible choices internationally.
Thirty years of friendship. Eighteen years of shared madness in Cheshire. A two‑week holiday with a 24‑hour international escape baked in. Your timeline is feral. Your trip should be too.
It started with a message — the kind you send when nostalgia hits harder than common sense. Because nothing says “I’ve missed you” like booking a flight to another country. And nothing says “we’re 60” like pretending this is a sensible idea.
So we’re doing it. A spiritual journey powered by THC, nostalgia, and questionable impulse control.
We roll into Amsterdam. We roll out 24 hours later. We roll our ankles somewhere in between.
A cross‑continental disaster waiting to happen — certified now, apparently, to cause international incidents. Two old friends, reunited after nearly a decade, wandering through canals and coffee shops like a pair of feral pilgrims on the 24‑Hour Maybe: maybe enlightenment, maybe romance, maybe just the munchies.

Either way, we’re going. Because at this age, chaos is a form of self‑care.
If you’ve ever wanted to turn nostalgia, THC, and questionable impulse control into a spiritual journey, this is your sign. We’re rolling into Amsterdam (and probably rolling out 24 hours later). Anyone is welcome to join the madness — pack snacks, bring laughter, and prepare for ankle injuries.
