📝 WEDGIEONTOUR.COM BLOG Friday Rant: What The Hell Happened This Week?

Every Friday I tell myself I'm going to write about hiking, travel, football, or literally anything else.
Then politics happens.

And suddenly I'm sat staring at my keyboard, three coffees deep, trying to work out whether the headlines I just read were real or the result of someone letting ChatGPT and a fever dream run the government for a week.
So here we are.
Friday Rant Time.
Once again the world has spent seven days watching Donald Trump and his orbit of loyalists, influencers, lawyers, spokespeople, online warriors, and professional outrage merchants create enough noise to power a small city.
The thing that always amazes me isn't even the latest controversy.
It's the speed.
A normal politician gets one scandal and spends months trying to explain it.
Trump-world somehow manages to generate so much drama in a week that by Wednesday we've forgotten what happened on Monday.
It's like watching a washing machine full of lawsuits, social media posts, campaign rallies, TV interviews, conspiracy theories, and fundraising emails all running on the same spin cycle.
Somehow the answer to every problem remains:
More outrage.
More posting.
More blaming.
More fundraising.
Less accountability.
At this point Americans need a weekly box score.
This Week's Winners
âś… Lawyers
âś… Cable news ratings
âś… Social media engagement
âś… Billionaires selling outrage
âś… People who manufacture giant red hats
This Week's Losers
❌ Facts
❌ Nuance
❌ Public trust
❌ Common sense
❌ Anyone hoping for a quiet week
The weirdest part is that none of this feels weird anymore.
Ten years ago, half these headlines would have led the news cycle for a month.
Today people scroll past constitutional drama while arguing about football scores and cat videos.
We've become completely desensitised.

So as another week comes to an end, I'd like to offer a traditional Wedgie On Tour blessing:
May your coffee be strong.
May your blood pressure stay low.
May your social media break be long.
And may next week's headlines somehow be less ridiculous than this week's.
Although let's be honest.
We're probably going to need another Friday rant.
See you next week.
